The Flaming Lips to Reissue Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots for 20th Anniversary

The Flaming Lips are reissuing Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots for its 20th anniversary year. A digital version and 6xCD box set arrive November 25, with a 5xLP package to follow on April 14 next year, all via Warner. The CD set has more than 50 unreleased tracks, and the vinyl set has more than 30, plus several that have never been on wax before. Among them are B-sides, demoes, remixes, radio sessions, two live albums, and other rarities, such as covers of Pink Floyd’s “Lucifer Sam” and “Breathe,” Radiohead’s “Knives Out,” and Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.”

Any songs in the CD set that are not part of the initial vinyl collection will be released on vinyl separately next year, according to a press release. Those separate nicknacks include the two live albums (recorded in Boston, MA, and London) and the 25-minute demo “Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream.” Additionally, the Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell and Fight Test EPs will be released on vinyl for the first time next spring.

Flaming Lips will also perform Yoshimi in its entirety in London and Washington, D.C., at Eventim Apollo (April 28) and the Anthem (May 25), respectively.
