Dr. Dre Working on New Music for ‘Grand Theft Auto’

Dr. Dre hasn’t released a project in six years, but that may soon change.

The rap icon is working on new music for the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, according to Snoop Dogg. Speaking with the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, Dre’s longtime collaborator revealed that Dre is back in the lab creating “great fu**ing music.”

“I do know he’s in the studio,” said Snoop, who has also been involved in the GTA recording sessions. “I do know he’s making great fu**ing music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”

Dre’s last project was 2015’s Compton, inspired by the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. Earlier this year, there were reports that he was reviving his ill-fated Detox album following his release from the hospital for a brain aneurysm.

In February, Aftermath producer DJ Silk previewed a new Dre track with lyrics about his brain aneurysm and highly-publicized divorce from Nicole Young.

“Trying to kill me with them lies and that perjury,” raps Dre. “I see you tryna f**k me while I’m in surgery / And ICU, deathbed on some money shit / Greedy bitch, take a pic / Girl, you know how money get.”

Speaking with DJ Khaled’s “The First One” podcast, Rick Ross also confirmed that the rap legend was cooking up new music. “He working on his project, which is incredible, sonic,” he said. “I’ve never heard a ni**a so meticulous with those ad-libs and shit like that, but that’s what you gotta love about Dre.”
