Tamron launches 18-300mm lens for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras
September 24, 2021 is the new launch date for the Tamron 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD (Model B061), the first 16.6x zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras.

This lens was first announced on July 21, 2021 but its release has been delayed by the global health crisis. It covers focal lengths equivalent to approximately 27mm to 450mm in 35mm format and is the first of its type with a 16.6x zoom ratio. The new lens features Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtremetorque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism for superior quietness and agile performance. Its optical design consist of 19 elements in 15 groups and includes a well-balanced arrangement of three hybrid aspherical elements and four LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to suppress optical aberrations. It also comes with Tamron’s proprietary VC stabilisation mechanism and has a minimum focus of 15 cm at the 18mm position and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the 300mm position. The minimum aperture ranges from f/22 to f/40.
The new lens features a moisture-resistant construction with a fluorine coating on the front element and a zoom lock switch. It weighs only 620 grams and is 125.6 mm long. It accepts 67 mm diameter filters and comes with a petal-shaped lens hood and front and rear caps. The local RRP is AU$1199. Click here for more information.
