The new lens has been redesigned for Leica M camera systems and supports rangefinder coupling for focus assistance. The new Speedmaster is designed to perfectly support the rangefinder system of the Leica cameras to achieve faster, more accurate and more convenient focusing performance through the camera’s viewfinder. It is also compatible with third-party AF adapters when the ability to autofocus is required and to enable it to be used with Nikon Z or Sony FE cameras. The f/0.95 maximum aperture makes it one of the fastest lenses available for Leica cameras. Both Megadap MTZ11 and Techart TZM-01/LM-EA7 are supported.
The optical design of this lens contains 11 elements in eight groups and includes extra-low dispersion elements for control of colour fringing and chromatic aberration. Nine iris diaphragm blades close to a circular aperture giving users the ability to shoot with an extremely shallow depth of field coupled with delivering soft and attractive bokeh. Unlike other f/0.95 lenses where the sharpness is only optimised at certain distances, the new Mitakon 50mm has an outstanding sharpness at both portrait distances and infinity, making it one of the most versatile 50mm lenses in the market. In addition the f/0.95 aperture is also tailor-made for night photography, where improved sharpness and coma correction contribute to high performance.
The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 lens is available in matte black and silver versions and will be shipped with a specially designed black leather box. The suggested retail price is US$799. The new lens is available to order on ZY Optics official website or specialist resellers. Click here for full details.
