New firmware for Sony α7S III (ILCE-7SM3) camera

New firmware version just released for Sony’s α 7S III camera adds the ability to shoot with Sony’s S-Cinetone picture profile and improved stabilisation.

Firmware Version 2.00, which is available in both Windows and MacOS versions, provides the following enhancements:

  • Adds the P11:S-Cinetonepicture profile preset. Note: S-Cinetone is a new video look which introduces a color matrix that produces highly regarded skin tones.
  • Adds support for setting Steady Shot to Active during recording movie with S&Q Frame Rate. Note: The Active setting cannot be selected if the S&Q Frame Rate is set to 120fps/100fps or higher.
  • Improves the overall stability of the camera.

It also fixes an issue where FTP transfer could fail when used with some USB-LAN conversion adapters and improves connection stability of USB tethering when using the camera with an iPhone.
